Words Coined by G. Fred White
G. Fred White is
a true wordsmith in every sense of the word.
Now, you might wonder what a "wordsmith"
happens to be.
That's an excellent question and I'm glad
you asked. So, with no further ado, a wordsmith is 'a person
that fabricates new words'. Once a new word has been created
people in the know say that the word has been "coined".
You might not think that new words have
to be fabricated but my job is to convince you otherwise.
For instance, did you know that throughout
the entire history of the human existence there has never
been, as far as this author is aware, any words that rhyme
with the words Silver,
Month, Purple
and Orange?
It's true...
At least as far as the Farmer's Almanac
of 2005 is concerned (or maybe it was in the Old
Farmer's Almanac of 2005 but definitely not the Modern
Farmer's Almanac of 2005).
So, when G. Fred White came across this
curiosity he decided to do something about it.
And this is an interesting lesson in human
nature. Understand that most people who read that 'four
English words had no rhyming words to go with them' would
simply pass over the statement with the mildest of fascination
and moments later that interesting little linguistic tidbit
would disappear from their minds.
O.K., maybe the tidbit of info wouldn't
really disappear but if it go stashed away in an unmarked
folder and left hanging around in a messy pile with a whole
bunch of other little tidbits in no time at all that bit
of information would be just as good as lost. But, in the
case of the great author and wordsmith G. Fred White
he decided to tread where most mortals never dreamed of
stepping.
White decided to take full responsibility
to address this lexiconical deficiency. So...
He grabbed his trusty pen and a scrap piece
of paper and created a new word for each of the aforementioned
"rhyming orphans".
Here's the proof:

Legend: Text present on the scrap
of paper used by G. Fred White to coin the new words that rhyme
with month, orange, silver and purple. "G. Fred White --
Wordsmith.
Until 8 Dec 2004 There were no words that rhymed with month,
orange, silver or purple until G. Fred White coined the words
nonth = none to the nth degree or "absolutely nothing";
forange = the act of foraging for food on foreign land ("Let
the horse forange"); dillver = shade of green exhibited
by the dill weed; and burple = tiny burp that is only slightly
embarrassing."
